Get Together

IMG_0414 - CopyIMG_0417

Melissa was in town for an extended weekend in honor of Max’s birthday.  Grammy, Melissa, and Maile came over for family dinner tonight.  It was nice to get together and hang out.

Melissa also brought my finished Americana quilt.  (Doesn’t it look great!)  I had pieced the top together (with Andrea’s help on the layout and fabric choices) over the summer when I spent a long weekend in Henderson and Melissa offered to quilt it with her long arm quilt.  She used red white and blue variegated thread and even quilted stars into the pattern.  Pretty cool.  (I don’t have a separate family room from living room yet, but someday when I do, I want to theme the Family Room in reds, whites and blues.)

Expecting!

Sonogram 7-7-10

What are we expecting you ask?

  • We are expecting to be tired.
  • We are expecting to be joyful.
  • We are expecting to be parents!

It’s hard to tell, of course, what is in the ultrasound picture, but the x on the left is the tip of the head and the  x on the right is the baby’s bum.

~The baby is due February 1, 2011.  We are excited!~

Happy 31!

IMG_0978

I had a great birthday!  Really, we’ve been celebrating all  month.  T and Cliff and Jack and I went out for yummy sushi at the beginning of the month to celebrate T’s and my birthdays.  My Mom sent my birthday gift early and we’ve been enjoying the partitioned vegetable dish and hors d’oeuvres tray.  Brent sent more tools for my tool box and Jack found me an out of print Occupational Therapy book that I’ve been wanting.

After Jack took me out for waffles, he went to school and I went home to finish packing for a trip to Colorado.  Jack’s dad met us at the airport and drove us home to a great birthday dinner: ribs, baked potatoes, mixed veggies (very yummy –check out the recipe blog for this one), homemade applesauce, and yummy chocolate birthday cake.  Liz and the kids came and we had a great time.  Liz gave me handmade Christmas cards.  So great!  Melissa bought me a church book that I’ve been wanting and Nadia made a woven hot-pad one-handed (she’s in a cast)!

Thanks to everyone for all the birthday calls, texts, tweets, and facebook notes!

Andrea’s New House

IMG_0920

What a fun weekend! Jack and I drove out on Friday night to spend the weekend with Andrea and to see her new house!!! How fun! We helped trim up the front yard, take out some stray volunteer palm trees, hang light fixtures, hang pictures on the walls... We really got a lot done and had a great time. We had lunch at Red Robin and Jack made us chicken pesto pasta for dinner. Andrea made her traditional princess waffles for breakfast, but with a pumpkinny Fall twist. It was hard to believe the weekend went by so quickly and it was hard to say goodbye.

Weekend Get-Together

Jocelyn, Andrea, and Brent all came out for the three-day weekend. We had planned to go to the water park, but didn't really want to pay the prices, so instead we bought water guns and $5 slip-and-slide and had an afternoon of fun in the backyard. We played games, went shopping, washed all the cars, and got a few new plants (thanks Mom and Dad and Brent!).

The funniest part of the weekend was when we all walked in to church ( a few minutes late, of course) and tried to sit down on one of the side pews. Surprise! We didn't fit. We popped right out of the pew and had to find another row (a center row) to sit on!
